Truth be told, we all have unfinished projects. They are tucked away somewhere in the spare room, the basement or garage. Our enthusiasm fizzled out to the point that we’d rather not even see them or have to deal with them. What to do with them now? Goodwill? Yard sale? Give them away? Deal with them some other day? Finish them? (hardly…)

The apostle Paul says that WE ARE GOD’S PROJECT. “…for we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus…” (Ephesians 2:10) Knowing that, and remembering some of His promises gives us the assurance that He will not leave us unfinished. He is doing something good, and won’t quit until He’s finished His project to perfection.

WE WERE GOD’S PROJECT BEFORE WE WERE BORN. Psalm 139:16 says “Your eyes saw my substance, BEING YET UNFORMED. And in Your book they all were written, the days fashioned for me, when as yet there were none of them.”

GOD KNOWS WHAT HE’S DOING. In Jeremiah 29:11 we read: “…for I KNOW the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord…”

GOD WILL BE WITH US UNTIL HE FINISHES THE PROJECT. He assured His servant Jacob of that in Genesis 28:15: “…I AM WITH YOU and will keep you wherever you go…I WILL NOT LEAVE you until I have done what I have spoken to you.”

GOD WILL FINISH THE PROJECT: The apostle Paul was convinced of it! He wrote in Philippians 1:6: “Being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you WILL COMPLETE IT until the day of Jesus Christ.”

THE FINISHED PROJECT – PERFECTED: In Jude 24, 25 we read: “Now to Him who is able to keep you from stumbling and TO PRESENT YOU FAULTLESS before the presence of His glory WITH EXCEEDING JOY, To God our Savior, Who alone is wise, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and forever. Amen.”

Yes, we look at our unfinished projects and don’t know what to do with them….but remember: We are God’s project and He will NOT leave us unfinished! Let’s praise Him today for His work in our lives – as He finishes His project to perfection!

I’ve got lots of projects to finish…someday.
I’m so glad that God’s in charge of me as a project, and that He’s molding me to what He sees best.
