….ACCORDING TO WHAT?
…how I feel at the moment? If I feel good, I’ll praise Him. The problem is that I don’t always feel good.
…how my day is going? Not a good idea. Some days Murphy’s Law rules.
…the prayers I get answered? Hummm. Sometimes I don’t want the answer I get. Other prayers are still on hold.
…how I’m being treated? That doesn’t work. Some people are downright rude.
…my physical health? That can fail any minute. Then what?
…how my plans are working out? Things don’t always go my way. What happens then?
…my righteousness? Are you kidding???
I will praise the Lord NOT according to any of these variables, but according to who HE is. He is the righteous, unchangeable I AM. No matter what I’m going through, He is worthy to be praised, always, forever, and eternally! The Psalmist wrote: “I will praise the Lord according to His righteousness, and will sing praise to the name of the Lord Most High.” (Psalm 7:17) I can praise Him for His righteousness! Not only is He righteous, but He considers me righteous in Christ. The apostle Paul explained it this way: “For He (God) made Him who knew no sin (Christ) to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.” (2nd Corinthians 5:21) And that’s reason enough to praise Him no matter what my circumstances…according to His righteousness!
Good one, again. He deserves our praise no matter what! After our car got totaled by a teenage daughter, a song came on the radio, reminding me of the same thing…in the good times, praise His name, in the bad times do the same…What a difference when all the blessings overpowered the whole situation! Thanks for posting this.

Kathy,
What a great reminder to not focus on the things of this life or situations that we face, but to focus on that which never changes. AMEN praise the Lord

Seems to be something we always have to remember, to praise the Lord NOT according to our circumstances!! Good thing He’s patient with us!
