Christmas is over, but some things last FOREVER!

The decorations are being stored; some gifts have been eaten, others are already broken, and the unwanted ones are being returned. Families have gone back home, the leftovers are being taken care of, and the Christmas lights are packed away.  It came and it’s gone. Christmas is over, but some things last forever. (No, not the fruitcake!)

What lasts forever are God’s everlasting truths that encourage us. Some of those truths are:

THE LORD IS FOREVER! “But You, O Lord, shall endure FOREVER and the remembrance of Your name to all generations.” (Psalm 102:12)

GOD’S MERCY IS FOREVER! “Oh, give thanks to the Lord, for He is good. For His mercy endures FOREVER.” (Psalm 118:1)

THE LORD IS KING FOREVER! “The Lord sits as King forever” (Psalm 29:10) “Your throne, O God, is FOREVER and ever.” (Psalm 45:6)

GOD’S WORD STANDS FOREVER! “The grass withers, the flower fades, (and Christmas is over, we might interject) but the word of our God stands FOREVER.” (Isaiah 40:8)

GOD’S WORD IS SETTLED FOREVER! “FOREVER, O Lord, Your word is settled in heaven…” (Psalm 119:89)

GOD’S NAME IS FOREVER! “Your name, O Lord, endures FOREVER, your fame, O Lord, throughout all generations.” (Psalm 135:13)

THE LORD SURROUNDS ME FOREVER! “As the mountains surround Jerusalem, so the Lord surrounds His people from this time forth and FOREVER.” (Psalm 125:2)

Although some folks would like the Christmas season to last forever, it doesn’t. (Neither does the fruitcake!) Fortunately, the same God who gave us the best Christmas gift ever (Jesus) reminds us that some things are forever. So when we face the end of any season in life, let’s be encouraged! Some things last FOREVER!

All of the “forevers” on your list is what Christmas is all about in the first place: Christ! So it looks like Christmas will last forever! Good thoughts. Thanks, Kath.
