We are alphabetizing our blessing list, and have come to our “U” blessings. Among other things, I’m thankful for: umbrellas, umbilical cords, unity, uncles, understanding, universities, upside-down cakes, USA, utilities, utensils and the underground church.
Many of us have the freedom to worship Jesus, to go to church, to own and read our own Bible and to let anyone and everyone know that we are Christ-followers. Those are blessings that we should never take lightly!
Statistics show that the underground church is a reality in 131 of the world’s 193 countries, and that about 165,000 Christians are martyred each year. Even with the horrors that our persecuted brothers and sisters experience, the underground church is growing at an amazing rate. The faith, boldness and commitment of our brothers and sisters in Christ is worthy to be imitated. Log on to www.persecution.com or www.opendoorsusa.org to learn more, and you will not only appreciate our freedom to worship, but you also will be thankful for the underground church.
