LIFE-GIVING COMMANDS

“Watch out! Stop!” Who wouldn’t desperately scream life-giving commands to someone who is unaware that they are running headlong to the edge of a cliff? We would yell those commands for their benefit – not to take their fun away!

That’s the same with God. The commands in His word are life-giving; they are for our good. God’s intention is not to take our fun away, but to protect us from harm and death.

In Proverbs 7:2 we read: “Keep my commands and live.” Centuries later, Jesus explained “The words that I speak to you are spirit, and they are life.” (John 6:63)

Do you want to live? Obey God’s Word.

Prayer: Lord, We know Your commands are for our good. They give life. Help us to obey them today! Amen
