Proverbs 9 presents two contrasting invitations: The first is to enter the House of Wisdom, where we learn that “by me your days will be multiplied and years of life will be added to you.” (verse 11) The second is to the house of a foolish, clamorous woman, who hides the fact that in her house “the dead are there, that her guests are in the depths of hell.” (verse 18)
Tucked within those invitations we find the front door key to the House of Wisdom in verse 10: “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom.” When we honor, respect and reverence God, we hold the key to the House of Wisdom. The choice is a simple. Let’s use that key and enter the House of Wisdom!
Prayer: Lord, help us to choose to enter the House of Wisdom, using the front door key You provide. Amen!
