“There is one who speaks like the piercing of a sword, but the tongue of the wise promotes health” Proverbs 12:18
We’ve all been pierced by the sword of harsh, hurtful words that someone has said to – or about – us. In the same manner, we’ve felt the healing that a timely, encouraging word brings. Unfortunately, we can’t control the words that others choose to say to us, or the consequences they might bring.
But there is something that we can control: the words we speak to others. We can choose to use a verbal sword, which inflicts pain, damage and destruction. On the other hand, we can choose healing words. We may never know the impact our words may have on people around us. Let’s put our verbal swords away and choose wisely to bless, heal and encourage others!
Prayer: Father, Give us the grace to lay our verbal swords down and choose to use our tongue to promote health. Amen!
